Suggestions For Different Scenarios

In Arkansas, the most significant threats are the New Madrid fault zone and tornadoes.

    • Route to EOC.  Unique to Earthquakes is the size and shape of the damaged area.  While a tornado can be very devastating the damaged area is usually a "swath" that can be maneuvered around. Power lines, trees, light poles, and debris will be everywhere in the path that the tornado took.  However, to get from point A to point B, a map or navigation program and general knowledge of the path will reveal a way to your destination.  During an earthquake however, bridges all over the quake area could be questionable, dangerous, or completely failed.  It may be impossible to reach the EOC or some other destination safely.   You should know right now if you can get to the EOC location or destination that you may be deployed if bridges are out.  The likely EOC for your area can be found here.

    • Commercial Communications.  An earthquake will take out commercial communications longer and on a wider scale than a tornado as communications backbones are disrupted rather than just local distribution centers.  Due to the bridge issue, crews getting to the damaged areas will take longer.  I'm curious what type of communication utilities
